Politikpunkt (politikpunkt.de) is committed to correcting all material errors in its journalism promptly, transparently and with a clear record of the change. This Corrections Policy sets out who is responsible, how readers can report mistakes and what steps the newsroom follows to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Who is responsible for corrections at Politikpunkt?
The standards desk under Nina Wolff, Ansvarig för faktagranskning (fact‑checking manager), is the body that receives, assesses and coordinates all correction requests for Politikpunkt. Every error report is logged, investigated and, if confirmed, acted upon within a defined timeframe.
Nina Wolff (emma.sandberg@politikpunkt.de, +46 8 525 030 66) leads fact‑checking and source verification at Politikpunkt Media Ltd., the Gibraltar‑registered private company (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry) that owns and operates the site. She reports directly to Chefredaktör Martin Krüger, who has final authority over publication decisions and major corrections. For complaints that cannot be resolved by the standards desk, escalation to Martin Krüger (anders.lindqvist@politikpunkt.de, +46 8 525 030 61) is the next step.
How do I report an error?
Readers can report any factual mistake, omission or misleading statement by emailing corrections@politikpunkt.de. The subject line should include the article URL and a short description of the suspected error.
Alternatively, the general contact address info@politikpunkt.de may be used, but the dedicated corrections inbox ensures faster routing to the standards desk. Reports may also be submitted via the Tip Us page. When writing, please provide as much evidence as possible – for example, a direct quote from a primary source or a screenshot – to help the team verify the issue quickly.
What happens after I report a correction?
Once a correction request reaches corrections@politikpunkt.de, the standards desk acknowledges receipt within one business day and starts an assessment. Material errors – those that affect the factual accuracy or overall meaning of an article – are prioritised.
The investigation involves re‑checking original sources, interviewing the reporter and editor, and consulting the relevant beat editor (for example, Patrick Beck for politics or Birgit Krämer for economy). If the error is confirmed, the article is updated immediately with a correction note at the top or bottom of the piece. The note states what was wrong, what was corrected and the date of the change. Minor errors, such as typographical mistakes, are fixed without a note unless they change meaning. The standards desk aims to complete the entire process within five business days for material errors and within one business day for urgent corrections (e.g., defamatory statements).
What about errors in sponsored or AI‑assisted content?
Politikpunkt applies the same corrections process to all editorial content, including sponsored material and articles that have been assisted by AI tools. Sponsored content is clearly labelled as such, and any correction to it follows the same verification and notification steps.
AI‑assisted tools may support research, drafting or formatting, but every published piece is reviewed and approved by a human editor. If an AI‑assisted tool introduces an error, the standards desk traces it and corrects the article. The human editor remains responsible, and the correction note will not mention the tool unless the error was specifically caused by a technical malfunction. Importantly, AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines or expert profiles – any such occurrence would be treated as a serious material error and escalated to Chefredaktör Martin Krüger.
How does Politikpunkt ensure transparency about corrections?
Every published correction note includes a link to this policy and is archived in the article’s revision history. The standards desk also publishes a quarterly summary of correction trends and lessons learned on the Fact‑Checking Policy page.
Readers who are not satisfied with the outcome of a correction request may escalate the matter to Martin Krüger via anders.lindqvist@politikpunkt.de or by following the formal Complaints Procedure. The same procedure applies if a reader believes a requested correction was improperly denied. Politikpunkt Media Ltd. maintains a register of all correction requests and their resolutions, which may be disclosed upon request to the company’s registered office in Malta.
